Please download this word document in order to have a general overview of the components found within the computer. The following is added text I made to the note regarding computer components.
Blu-ray Disc
Blu-Ray also known as Blu-Ray Disc is the name of the next generation optical disk format created by the Blu-ray Disc Association. Was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video HD as a well as sorting large amounts of data. Stores up to 5 times more data than conventional DVDs
Wireless Router
The network device that will route IP traffic through several wireless IP networks in order to establish connections to the Internet; wired networks work by buffering and forwarding data pockets. These routers allow for a wireless network within the home. The average speeds of a wireless router include 54 Mbs and 108.0 Mbs. Some popular brands include Linksys and D-Link.
USB thumb drive
A flash memory card plugs into the computer’s USB port. Small enough to hook onto a keychain, it emulates a small disk drive and allows data to be easily transferred from one machine to another. Most thumb drives are compact, rewritable, lightweight and removable. The average capacity of a USB thumb drive would be 703 Mb, although many high-end USB drives can hold 16 GB.
PCI-e
This is a computer expansion card interface format introduced by Intel in 2004. This system was created in order to replace the general purpose PCI expansion bus. It was created not as a bus but is structured as a point to point full duplex serial links called lanes. Each lane carries 250 mb/sec in each direction. Future releases, will increase this speed further (expected to be released in 2011).
